Range of rooms in Royal de Cameron

100 standard rooms and 100 junior suites all with a sea view or a lateral sea view. Each has a private bathroom with shower, hair dryer, air conditioning, satellite TV, telephone, minibar and safe (payable locally), and decorated in style. Some rooms have been adapted for disabled and all have insect netting. Because of the way the resort has been laid out, most of the rooms have views over the sea.

Dining at the all-inclusive Royal de Cameron

Breakfast: There is a buffet laid out in the dining room, and you can take breakfast outdoors on the terrace overlooking the sea. Lunch is a buffet either at the beach bar or the beach restaurant where it's possible to eat outside on the terrace, close to the beach. Dinner is either buffet or a la carte in a separate restaurant and you can eat outdoors or in the dining room. The food is remarkably good, and the free drinks on offer, quite palatable. The white wine comes from Fogo. Between meals you can find things to eat and drink at the bar by the swimming pool (where the expresso coffee is authentic) and also at the snack bar on the beach.

Cape Verde Jetaway's Comments

This resort was opened in December 2005 under Italians, and it was called Ventaclub. In 2009 it was purchased by a Columbian Hotel chain, called Royal De Cameron. We have stayed in it under both managements. We preferred staying in it as Royal De Cameron. It is in one of the best locations in Boavista. For those with children, there is a kids club, and facilities for babies where you can leave the children for hours on end. Within the resort, there is much on offer and little need to leave. The beach goes on seemingly for ever, you could walk into Sal Rei if you had the energy; the sea is a beautiful turquoise blue and relatively calm, but not always. If you want to get away from the music by the pool, the beach has sunloungers set up on it, with the beach bar close by with its food/drink and showers/amenties. This is the only hotel we know of in the Cape Verdes with several tennis courts. The new management is trying to make the hotel more international and not just Italian, and at the time we stayed, there were many French holiday makers. The entertainment before dinner was conducted in French and we found it a bit overpowering, but I guess that feedback to the management may have changed this. The quality of the room, the food, drink and coffee in the restaurant and bars was surprisingly good for an all-inclusive hotel. The white wine was particularly good, at that time they were using vinho de Fogo, a Cape Verdean wine, produced in small quantity in the volcano crater. For those that like their food and drink (quality) this possibly has the best food/drink offer of the all-inclusive hotels in the Cape Verde Islands.
