HOTEL TARRAFAL, Tarrafal, Santiago Island

Overlooking the Tarrafal Bay on the north west cost of the island, some 74 Km from Praia. The town of Tarrafal lies to the south east corner of the bay, with about 10,000 inhabitants. Possibility of half board. There is also a bar, and tables outside overlooking the beach and the swimming pool.

Comments

Tarrafal Bay is a favourite at the week end with those that live in Praia and many have villas not far from here. From the hotel you can see along the beach, and in the morning the fishing people launch their small wooden boats to link up with the larger trawlers that return with the fish to take to the fish market at the end of the jetty. The town is fairly quiet, and the hotel very basic, but well situated. When we visited the swimming pool was empty as work was being conducted on it. A good place to get away from it all. There are few visitors in the winter and there are restaurants in town where you can eat in the open air, as well as a little beach cafe just a few yards from the hotel, overlooking another sandy beach in the Tarrafal bay. This is a spot where sailing boats come in to anchor and spend a few nights.
