Comments
This is the real Cape Verdes. Madame Loutcha is very much in evidence.
On Sunday lunchtimes, the hotel organises a gastronomic buffet at the
beach at Calhau, as well as Cape Verde music normally a couple of nights a week (compulsory local charge for dinner). The hotel is the right
side of town for Cape Verde's golf course. But don't expect any
green greens. The bunkers are pretty realistic though. We have stayed here and it is reminiscent of many places we have stayed in France, with a restaurant and rooms above. It suits those that are not looking for luxury and don't expect to have their bags carried up to their bedroom. Service is not always consistent, reception has little information, so bring your own guide book and maps. At times it can be quite noisy being so central. If you speak French, Portuguese or Crioulu you should be welcome and appreciate the restaurant and evening music. If you want something more luxurious, try the Foya Branca at San Pedro or the Porto Grande in Mindelo.
Guest comments
If you want to stay somewhere a little bit different, this hotel
although simple is quite comfortable. It is old fashioned but this
is part of the charm, and having a good restaurant with great music
is a bonus. A favourite with francophiles. C from London
